The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the horrible Oakland Raiders in a game that pretty much everyone thought was a lock for a Win. Almost every aspect of the team contributed to the embarrassment, from coaching, playcalling, tackling, passing, blocking and kicking. We try to express some of what transpired since the game, what went wrong, and our concerns for the future. Joining us this week is Cody Benjamin, from the Eagles fan blog, Bleed Green.
What we discussed:
Cody from Bleed Green joins us, and we ask him about his site
Who is to blame for this horrible loss? It might be easier to say who is not
Andy Reid shoulders the blame for this loss… no adjustments, and he was completely outcoached
Eagles trade with Rams at the deadline, picked up LB Will Witherspoon and sent them rookie WR Brandon Gibson
Donovan McNabb was under pressure all game, and he was too jumpy as a result

The Philadelphia Eagles take a BYE week, but we are still talking all about the Birds this week, and it’s an even bigger show as Jason from Bleeding Green Nation joins us again. All the usual suspects (McNabb, Vick, Kolb, Westbrook, Trotter) are the topics of our conversation as we sort out where the Eagles are at this early point in the season.
The Eagles mercifully exit the preseason with a 1-3 record, and enter the official 2009-2010 season traveling to the Carolina Panthers this coming Sunday. This team seems to be a mystery to fans, yet sports analysts see good things from them. We talk about the moves of the last week, how things look going forward and talk about what fans have written to us.

The Eagles visit the Carolina Panthers to start the NFL season this Sunday

The Eagles win their first preseason game, and Michael Vick debuts in Eagles green on the field. Most fans at The Linc give him a standing ovation as he trotted out on the field and the stage is set for a very interesting season. It’s tough to watch and talk about the preseason games, because you don’t know what will make it to the regular season, from players, to strategy, to expectations. Most of this week’s show focuses on Quarterbacks and Defense.
What we talked about:
Michael Vick debuts in Eagles Green
Fans hard on Donovan McNabb, as usual
Does a Brady or Favre, in Eagles Green, get the same treatment?
One trait of a good journalist is trust – he or she should establish a network of trusted sources (read: spies) and should return that trust by NEVER revealing those sources when asked. We here at EaglesFanCast try to be everywhere at once, and it is with the help of our ever-expanding network that we bring you the latest news about our beloved Birds.
The latest rumor swirling around the team is a whopper. According to our sources, the Eagles and Arizona Cardinals are once again discussing a deal. The particulars? CB Lito Sheppard, OT Winston Justice, and our 1st round pick…for none other than WR Larry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald carries a $16 million cap number for this year and the next – that is a pretty big nugget which would force the Eagles to get a bit creative. One way I see them doing this is by releasing LB Takeo Spikes and his $5 million cap number. I saw the future of the Eagles LB corps towards the end of last year, with Omar Gaither and Chris Gocong on the outside and Stewart Bradley in the middle. Plus, did you happen to see what number was issued to our latest acquisition, Chris Clemons? That would be # 50. A linebacker’s number. I think the writing is on the wall for Spikes at least; whether it leads to us acquiring Fitzgerald will remain to be seen.
Also, it is now being reported that UFA WR Randy Moss is returning to New England with a three-year deal. Before you get all bent and ream the front office for not making a pitch, our sources are telling us that Andy Reid and Moss recently had a 1.5 hour conversation, but they obviously could not agree on contractual terms. Well, at least they gave it the ol’ college try.
