BYE Week Break – EaglesFanCast 119

So we once again come across the Eagles BYE week, unofficially the mid-point of the Eagles season, despite only being six games in so far.  This is where, historically, fans and analysts (and hopefully coaches) assess the team, what has gone well, what has gone wrong and where things are going. We are no different, and as has been tradition, we invited our friend Jason Brewer from Bleeding Green Nation to join in on the Eagles conversation.  We talk the season so far, the Cowboys game this week, and even dip into the Donovan McNabb pool for a bit.

What we discussed:

  • Eagles grade at the BYE week has to be an ‘F’
  • We talk how the Eagles played against the Redskins
  • The Eagles have three straight Home games coming up against the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals
  • Sunday Night Football… which Dallas team will show up?
  • The Eagles need to beat Dallas to instill confidence in us
  • Out-think, not out-stink! (quote from Todd)
  • We talk a bit about Terrell Owens and Donovan McNabb
  • Eric Allen and Jim Johnson will be inducted into the Eagles Honor Roll this coming Sunday in a  Halftime ceremony
  • EFC FFL update

EaglesFanCast 96 – Eagles Beat Refs

Andy Reid at 13The Philadelphia Eagles overcome a horribly-officiated game and beat the Indianapolis Colts at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. More than Colts quarterback Peyton Manning playing poorly, more than Eagles quarterback Michael Vick playing well, was the topic of the referees and how quickly they are tossing that little yellow flag through the air.  We recognize that there is extra pressure from the NFL now to protect players during the game, and it has exposed itself as bad calls that could have easily changed the course of this particular game in more than one instance. Despite all of this, and more than a dozen Eagles penalties overall, the Eagles win, and it may be a huge momentum builder going into next week’s Monday Night Football game against the Washington Redskins.

What we discussed:

  • The Eagles are now 5-3 after beating the refs Indianapolis Colts in Philadelphia
  • How many horrible calls did the refs make? Let us count the ways
  • Eagles go to Washington to take on Donovan McNabb and the Redskins on Monday Night Football, no pressure, Donovan
  • We want a huge game, a definitive win on national TV
  • We go back to talking about the refereeing after some emails from Dennis
  • Reminiscing about some notorious Eagles fan stories as we’ve experienced it
  • Some laughable EFC Fantasy Football results

EaglesFanCast 87 – It Is Only Preseason

Two Preseason weeks down with a win and a loss.  We have seen our starters play essentially three quarters of football so far, the coaches holding back their tricks and some shuffling in the lineup.  Our first team Offense has yet to score a touchdown, and we have seen plenty of rust as we do every year by this time.  The third game is only a few days away, and we will see more of the starters for most of the game.  Shortly after, the team gets cut to 75 players.

The team is definitely faster, the Offense is having struggles as we would expect from a revamped roster and new leader, the Defense looks better than anticipated and now we have two rookies in starting positions (Brandon Graham and Nate Allen).  Joselio Hansen is probably on the bubble, and we somehow get back on the topic of Donovan McNabb again.

We read off an email from Dennis in Gettysburg, then address the rumors brewing about the Vikings looking for a trade with a few teams, including the Eagles.  The last thing we talked about was the potential for an 18-game season next year, and some of the ramifications that comes with that.

One last thing!  We now have an App in the iTunes App Store for everyone with an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad! This direct link is here – http://bit.ly/EFC-App

So check out our App, and throw us a rating in the App Store or on the podcast itself in iTunes to help spread the EaglesFanCast love.  We really appreciate it.

EaglesFanCast 85 – Training Camp At Last

Well we are finally back! After taking a few months off due to all kinds of reasons, we finally make our 2010 season return. Todd and Chuck chat with one of our newest site writers, Steve Brown all the way from the UK!

We talked about the start of Training Camp, the excitement of a new season, and touched on players such as Kevin Kolb, Michael Vick, DeSean Jackson, Stewart Bradley, Brent Celek and the newest Eagle, Nate Allen, among others.

With the departure of Donovan McNabb, leaving Kolb and Vick, Chuck raised the question about the Wildcat and it’s presence (or lack of) in this year’s Offense.

Still where we want to be:

EaglesFanCast 83 – NFL Eagles Draft 2010, Part 1

Part 1 of 2

Tommy Lawlor of Scouts Notebook, Eagles Blitz and PhiladelphiaEagles.com joins us for our annual Post-Draft show. With Tommy’s extensive insight, we break down how the Eagles Draft went down, how the new players fit in the system, the work the organization still has to do, and much more.

What we discussed:

  • The NFL 2010 Draft had great ratings and that probably means the new format will stay
  • DE Brandon Graham from Michigan was the Eagles first pick, and they aggressively went for him
  • S Nate Allen from USF was the second pick
  • LB Keenan Clayton from Oklahoma (4th round) might have real potential on this team
  • DE Ricky Sapp from Clemson was chosen in the 5th round and some are seeing him as a steal
  • Eagles picked a number of smart players in this Draft
  • RB Charles Scott from LSU is someone Tommy is happy about the Eagles picking
  • QB Mike Kafka from Northwestern was the Eagles 6th pick overall. He didn’t play a whole lot in college, but is talented.
  • S Kurt Coleman from Ohio State is a player that is starter material in a few short years
  • CB Trevard Lindley from Kentucky
