Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles will get to yell that one more time at The Linc on Sunday.

Duce Staley will retire as an Eagle and be celebrated by the team at halftime during Sunday’s Eagles-Giants game. Duce will be introduced by some former teammates and there will be highlight videos and ceremony during it. Personally I can’t wait.

Duce was the workhorse running back the team hadn’t seen in a while, and his resilience and toughness became almost legendary. I admired him as a player on and off the field, and his was the first jersey I bought for my daughter when she was really tiny. I think it’s definitely fitting that he retires as an Eagle in this 75th anniversary year. I know I’m now looking forward to this as much as the game itself on Sunday. I do hope the cold rains hold off until after the ceremony.

Here’s more information on the news, and more about Duce’s accomplishments as an Eagle on the Philadelphia Eagles website:

  1. What a weak ceremony they gave Duce. They didn’t even let him speak, and then they present him with a poster. Thanks for all the years you busted your behind Duce, here is a poster. I thought they came up small on this one.

  2. Couldn’t agree with you more… the man still has his name amongst the best in the franchise, yet there’s not much done for him. Really sad.
We meant to talk about it on the show last night, but just wound up getting distracted.
Well Duce, you were definitely one of the best and it was always enjoyable to watch you on the field. You deserved a better send-off by the organization.
