Season of Change – EaglesFanCast 216

The Philadelphia Eagles 2016-2017 season is over, and we sit down and go over how the season transpired. From trading starting quarterback Sam Bradford and starting rookie Carson Wentz, to the first three wins of the season, to the struggles of our wide receivers, the suspension of Lane Johnson, to finishing up the season with two wins against the Giants and Cowboys. A brief look back at a season that had a change that could affect the Eagles for years to come. A new coach, a new quarterback, and a new path forward.

Clumsy Birds – EaglesFanCast 209

EaglesFanCast PodcastThe Seattle Seahawks host the Philadelphia Eagles on a rainy Sunday evening, and it does not turn out well for our boys in midnight green and silver. The Birds drop the game 26-15. We use the term “drop” because that is what the main highlight of the Eagles game and season has been… DROPS! The main scapegoat of the Seahawks loss this week was Nelson Agholor, who dropped a few passes, and also committed a bad penalty that negated a huge reception for a touchdown by Zach Ertz. That score would have given the Eagles a 1-point lead, but instead, they had to punt, and was the catalyst in the eventual demise by the Eagles.

Very frustrating all around, when you are playing one of the best teams in the league, in their home. The Eagles hung with them from a distance, and there was a feeling for most of the game that there was still a shot, but Seattle did what they needed to do to keep the Eagles down. In the process, both Darren Sproles, Ryan Mathews, Connor Barwin, and Leodis McKelvin were injured, and Vaitai (Lane Johnson’s backup) is likely out several weeks. Scary times for the Eagles.

This coming week the Eagles are back home at Lincoln Financial Field, and host the Green Bay Packers and an always-dangerous Aaron Rodgers. A lot of this game will be who on the Eagles are healthy enough to play, in addition to what Offensive scheme Doug Pederson can come up with to pump up a deflated Eagle Offense.

To all of our listeners celebrating the holiday, have a very Happy Thanksgiving. We are extremely thankful for all of you that have been listening, writing, and calling in over these past nine years. We do this for you every week, so thank you.

Eagle Talons – EaglesFanCast 208

EaglesFanCast PodcastThe Philadelphia Eagles win in an exciting home game against the Atlanta Falcons, 24-15. This is the fourth home win this season, where the Birds are undefeated. This week the Eagles fans were crazy loud, and unbelievably quiet when the Eagles Offense was on the field. Such an amazing and smart fan base. Love it.

The Eagles run game was on fire this week, and Ryan Mathews was the star of that game, with 109 yards on the ground with two touchdowns. Overall the Eagles runners were all in play as it helped the Eagles struggling receivers, and Carson Wentz, in a huge way. It was an excellent game plan, and executed in a great way against a very good Falcons Defense.

Speaking of Defense, the Eagles D did an excellent job keeping a Falcons Offense with plenty of weapons for QB Matt Ryan both off the field and out of the end zone, allowing just the one Falcons TD.

This was yet another positive thing for our rookie QB, as he was able to help overcome a fourth quarter deficit and come back and win the game. Exciting and fun game all around, and just another positive that makes us look forward to the future of this team.

This coming week the Eagles travel to Seattle to take on one of the best teams in the league in a very hostile road game. On paper, the Eagles seem to have little shot in this one, but we have seen some very exciting, and surprising things from this team this season. Any given Sunday is the saying, right? Surely this will be another exciting game for Eagles fans.

Dallas Week the Second – EaglesFanCast 176

EaglesFanCast Podcast
The Eagles come off their big win in Big D and laid an egg at The Linc in Philadelphia.  Our Birds lost to the Seattle Seahawks Sunday afternoon 24-14 in front of a stunned home crowd.  The fans were loud, but it wasn’t what our Offense needed in the game, which was essentially flacid on the day.  The Eagles put up a horrid 139 yards of total yards on the day, converting only two 3rd downs, and only getting nine 1st downs.  They couldn’t get anything going, and quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for only 96 yards.

It was a performance that has left a number of fans and sports analysts now questioning how good this Eagles team really is.  They have all of their games to teams with winning records in the playoff hunt, not a good place to be approaching a playoff possibility.

The Eagles Defense played well, but when your Offense doesn’t put in what is needed… points, yards, clock… it cannot sustain.  The Seahawks Defense was good all day, and they played like the champions they are.

The bright spot on the day was LeSean McCoy, who broke Wilbert Montgomery’s all-time rushing record as an Eagle.  Congratulations to Shady!

Next up on the list is again the Dallas Cowboys.  The two NFC East Division rivals meet for the second time in three weeks, this time in Philadelphia for a Sunday night matchup.  After the Eagles embarrassed the Cowboys in Dallas, and with the Division on the line, this game is setting up to be a classic.  For both teams, this win is crucial with the Division, and most likely the playoffs, on the line.  It is Dallas Week again, Eagles Fans!  This time we’re home, and we’ll welcome the Cowboys to town appropriately.

Dallas Beatdown – EaglesFanCast 175

EaglesFanCast Podcast

A huge, HUGE win for the Philadelphia Eagles knocking out the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium last week.  The Eagles performed great on all sides of the ball, and outscored the Cowboys 33-10.  The Defense was great, the Offense was great, and the Cowboys never could get anything going on their side of the ball at all.  Our fast-paced Offense had the Cowboys Defense winded in the second quarter of the game, which allowed Mark Sanchez to use many of his weapons and run a solid attack.  Our quarterback had no turnovers in this game, which hopefully built his confidence, which was needed.  Star running back LeSean McCoy had another great week, putting 158 yards on the ground, while Jeremy Maclin had 108 yards receiving.  Our Defense continued their assault on opponents’ QB’s, racking up another four sacks on the day.

And congratulations to Conner Barwin, who earned the NFC Defensive Player of the Month!

In just a few days, the reigning champion Seattle Seahawks visit Philadelphia, and it is a statement game for the Eagles.  Winning on Sunday can help erase most of the doubts cast in the Packers game a few weeks’ back, and go a long way toward a playoff spot.
