All Charged Up – EaglesFanCast 219

The Philadelphia Eagles have a home game on the road in Los Angeles, when they visit the Los Angeles Chargers. Wait, what?

Well so many Eagles fans showed up at the game, that it was pretty much like an Eagles home game. Eagles fans booed the Chargers when they were announced, cheered “Dallas sucks!” at random times, and drowned out the “Let’s Go Chargers!” chants with “Let’s Go Eagles!”. Our Defense even raised the Birds fans cheers on third downs, and Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz took it upon himself to quiet the crowd when he was working under center.

Amazing, and absolutely great.

Our cohost Todd (@tradonks) was at the game, and kept sending photos of Eagles fans, well, everywhere. The TV announcers were even talking about it.

The greatest fanbase in any sport, hands down.

Besides that awesomeness, the Eagles beat the Chargers 26-24 to go 3-1 on the season, and now sit atop the NFC East. The Eagles have won two out of their three road games, and both of the games against division rivals. The Defense forced another turnover, the Offense running game put up over 200 yards, thanks to LaGarrette Blount going beast mode this week, and star rookie kicker Jake Elliott booting four more field goals, all of them over 40 yards, with the long of 53. Overall it was a solid game, and a good win on the season.

Next the Eagles are home in Lincoln Financial Field hosting the Arizona Cardinals with QB Carson Palmer who can always be dangerous.

The New and Old – EaglesFanCast 148

The Philadelphia Eagles log their first loss of the season, at home, falling to the San Diego Chargers 33-30.  The Offense was again exciting, if not somewhat muted, in the game, but our Defense showed what we feared in the preseason.  The secondary was ineffective, it seemed several receivers were open on every play, and there was almost no Eagles blitz to be seen.  But we knew the D was going to struggle.  The first week was an illusion as they took on a hobbled RGIII.  Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had plenty of time to find his targets all day, and there were enough mistakes that allowed them to simply score too many points.  A bright spot is the Defense recovered two more fumbles, and Michael Vick and the rest of the Offense didn’t turn the ball over at all.

Vick had a career day, finding his receivers quickly and effectively, and keeping the Chargers Defense on their heels, allowing the Eagles to move the ball down the field.

Moving into this week, the Kansas City Chiefs come knocking on the door of the Linc, with the big man himself, Andy Reid leading the way.  No coach knows the Eagles better than Reid, but his biggest disadvantage is his replacement, Chip Kelly.  Hopefully Reid will typically out-think himself, and make enough bad play calls and poor clock management to keep his Offense (and our Defense) off the field.  This is a big game despite that, as it would feel much better going into Denver the following week 2-1 instead of 1-2.

At halftime of tomorrow’s game, former quarterback Donovan McNabb will once again walk onto the turf, this time to have his number retired.  Brian Dawkins will emcee the event, and it is sure to be an emotional day for Eagles fans.  McNabb was one of the best players in franchise history, as well as one of the best to helm the Offense.  He was exciting, talented, had the players’ trust, and brought much in the way of confidence and that chance of a victory to every game.  His play, along with other talented players and coaches, brought the Eagles to a Super Bowl for the first time in a long time.  Although the Eagles came up just short, it was a great ride, and one we should never forget.

Express yourself!

Fast and Exciting – EaglesFanCast 147

EaglesFanCast PodcastEAGLES!!  Excitement is back in Philadelphia sports!  Our own Philadelphia Eagles, under new Head Coach Chip Kelly win the opening game of the 2013 NFL season.  But the news isn’t that the Eagles won, but how, and how FAST.  Speculations on how the Eagles would materialize this season under former Oregon Coach Chip have circulated since he accepted the Head Coaching job in Philly.  A few days ago, on Monday Night Football, against NFC East rival Washington Redskins, we saw the speed and energy that Chip brings to our beloved football team.  Our Offense was fast, efficient and thrilling in the first half of the game, moving the ball down the field quickly, and our Defense stunned the Redskins with takeaways, knockdowns, sacks, and pressure.

There were definitely things to be improved upon, and the game did not squelch some of the doubts of the team for this season, but the Philadelphia Eagles made the entire league sit up and take notice.  Chip Kelly has changed this team dramatically, and the next few weeks will show us how much.  The Eagles have the San Diego Chargers coming to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, and I expect the fans to be out of their minds.

Excitement and anticipation is once again alive in Philly, and we could not be happier fans.

This show also features a mix of past Eagles songs created by DaMaineMan Nidice and Produced by Frank Petka.  It’s a great mix, and we very much appreciate them letting us include it in the show.

WE want to hear from you!

  • Eagles lose to the San Diego Chargers on the road 31-23
  • Eric feels that head coach Andy Reid should be gone
  • Inconsistency, injuries, penalties and coaching have contributed to an unsure season
  • Email from Jerry in Middletown, PA
  • Email from Aussie Steve
  • Email from Craig in upstate NY
  • Eric calling for Eagles to win out
  • Predictions for all of us say a definitive win over the Chicago Bears
