Well now things are getting interesting again. The Philadelphia Eagles welcome the Jets to The Linc and trounce them 45-19, showing for the second week in a row a rather dominant Offense AND Defense. Surprisingly, the Eagles are also still a faint glimmer in the playoff conversation, but need plenty of help the last two weeks of the season. So no Eagles fans all over are at odds with their feelings on the team; those wanting head coach Andy Reid and Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo gone at any cost, and those that really enjoyed the Eagles teams that showed up the past two weeks. It’s a very interesting thing that is going on in this regard, as all fans still bleed green, but are just disgusted at how the team as a whole played most of the previous twelve weeks. Joining us this week is a return guest, Steve Malinowski from Tailgate365.com!

We want to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday, no matter what holiday you celebrate, where, or with whom. Enjoy your family, friends and cherish the good times. Happy Holidays Eagles fans!

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the New York Jets 45-19, winning their second straight game

Fans battle themselves in where their loyalties on the team lie, resulting in winning or losing

Are the Eagles coaches safe yet?

Jason Babin is a beast, being all over the Jets quarterback this week and now leading the NFL in sacks this season

Be a Jets fan this week!

It would be so sweet for the Eagles to walk into Dallas’ big house and play the spoiler this week

EFC FFL Upate – the championship is on us and your two EFC cohosts battle it out for the title!

The Philadelphia Eagles return to their winning ways and defeat the Miami Dolphins in Miami, 26-10. Although the Eagles played decidedly well in the game, one of the highlights was definitely the 20,000 Eagles fans that had quite a large voice and made themselves heard in Miami. It was an absolutely awesome display and made all Eagles fans proud. Overall, as we knew, the Eagles need to win out and get a lot of help to have a shot at the playoffs, and they took a small step this week in the win. The New York Giants also beat the Dallas Cowboys which also helped the Eagles keep the chance alive.

What we discussed:

UK Steve Brown joins Chuck this week!

Eagles beat the Dolphins and keep the remote playoff hopes alive

Eagles fans still hold hope and get a step closer

Michael Vick returns as quarterback this week and he ran a more efficient Offense

The Defense impressed and kept the Dolphins to only three points the entire second half

Some excellent emails and voicemails that injected some great points

The New York Jets come to Philadelphia this coming week, and the concern is high, as the Eagles have not played well at home all season

EFC FFL Upate – the playoffs are here!

The Philadelphia Eagles fall to a horrendous 4-8 on the season after a 31-14 embarrassing loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Ironically enough the Eagles are NOT mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet, as all three of the other NFC East teams, the Cowboys, Giants and Redskins all lost this weekend. To talk about this hapless division in the NFL, we have Jimmy Klempski from Blogging the Beast on the show. Jimmy is also a contributor to Bleeding Green Nation. We talk about the continued demise of this Eagles team, where some of the blame lies, and how the team needs to approach things heading out of this season. But wait! Despite the fact that the NFL Draft is even discussed at one point, there are still four regular season games left to play. This week is the Miami Dolphins, but do we dare even think about the possibility of things turning around for the Eagles, or are they too far gone at this point?

What we discussed:

Jimmy Klempski from Blogging the Beast joins us this week!

Eagles lose to the Seattle Seahawks 31-14 and are now 4-8 on the season

The Eagles’ problems are on all levels of the team

Eagles Quarterback situation is NOT good

What are the Eagles chances?

We have a voicemail that defends Reid, and we address it

Moving forward as a franchise might need quite a bit of housekeeping

EFC FFL Upate – the playoffs are here!

The Philadelphia Eagles lose yet another home game, this time being embarrassed by the New England Patriots who methodically picked the Eagles apart like the Birds were a high school team. Yet the Patriots team is just a shadow of years past and the Eagles team is a professional football team with preseason aspirations of the Super Bowl. No more, as this loss essentially cements the team as one of the biggest disappointments in franchise history… and that says a lot. After squandering a 10-0 early game lead, the Patriots score three unanswered touchdowns. But the climax of the game occurred in the third quarter when about a quarter of the fans in attendance started chanting “Fire An-dy! Fire An-dy!” Make no mistake about it, it was loud, and it was intentional. It sent a direct message not only to Andy Reid, but to Eagles owner Jeff Lurie. The chant again arose in the fourth quarter as the team continued to implode under Reid’s girth. To underscore the frustration and message, with just over eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, about half of the fans stood in unison and walked out of the stadium… out on the players, out on the coaches, and out on the owners. At the end of the game, there were almost as many Patriots fans in attendance as there were Eagles fans… something I never thought I would ever see.

What we discussed:

Eagles fans sent an audible message to coach Andy Reid and owner Jeff Lurie at the Eagles game during yet another home loss

What do fans have to do to get Lurie’s attention?

Some fans have declared not to buy or ask for any Eagles gear during this Holiday season as a way of hurting the bottom line of the Eagles organization

This season is unequivocally over, despite not being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention yet. Anyone still holding out hope of a December race is fooling themselves

Andy Reid has lost complete control of this team, with players not committing to playing their best, penalties and mental mistakes, and even coaches arguing on the sidelines… it just shows how far this team has fallen

The frustration is now done, and Eagles fans now only hope that Reid will no longer be the coach of their team in 2012

The Eagles now have a very short week, traveling across the country to Seattle to play the Seahawks on Thursday night

As the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles NFL season continues in all of its dual personality, our own Eagles defeat the NFC East 1st place New York Giants in a game that came down to the final minutes. The culmination of the game was backup Quarterback Vince Young, playing for injured Michael Vick, led his Offense on an 18-play drive for a touchdown that lasted 8:51, breaking the tie and going up 17-10. Not long after, the Eagles Defense, which dominated most of the game, forced an Eli Manning fumble, stopping the Giants’ drive, and allowing the Eagles to win the game. What was impressive was that the Eagles starting quarterback (Vick) and wide receiver (Maclin) were both out with injuries, allowing Young and Riley Cooper to fill their shoes, and they did it well. The Eagles won this game in the fourth quarter, something they have struggled with horribly this year, losing five games when leading in the fourth. It sounds like a great win, and it was, not because of how the game was played, because there were plenty of mistakes and was ugly at times, but because we were able to see the Eagles dig down and do what they HAD to do to win. The game was played with heart and determination, and we hope that carries the rest of the season that has so far brought disappointment.

What we discussed:

Eagles Defense stepped up big

Shady McCoy again had a great game, despite the Giants “stopping” his cutbacks most of the game

Riley Cooper had a great game in the WR spot for the injured Maclin, and caught his first touchdown pass

Vince Young should assume the locker room leadership role and mentor Vick and the team

Eagles have to cover two tight ends on the Patriots this week, and there is much concern for this

EFC FFL update

What is there to say? The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Arizona Cardinals and blow their fifth fourth quarter lead of the season. At this point, with how the team played and the coaches failed, it’s very difficult to spin anything positive on how this season has progressed, and where they are going from here. The Eagles travel up to play the New York Giants, but with the season already over, we do not see a chance that the Eagles will pull this game out and expect them to lose. With much feedback in emails and voicemails this week, we have seen the fans’ disgust with head coach Andy Reid, and it seems that almost all want Reid gone. Thanks for the memories Coach Reid, but your time has passed, please leave your Chinese menu on the way out. The time’s ours and we want to move on to the next chapter in this Eagles franchise history.

What we discussed:

Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson was benched for missing a team meeting. Pretty much Reid’s act was to set an example as a way to take back control

Quarterback Michael Vick suffered two broken ribs near the beginning of the game, but it was not known until the game was over, and Vick played poorly as a result

Shady McCoy under-utilized again, and again it hurts the team’s production

Andy Reid has turned into a horrible coach and manager, showing very little intelligence, bad decision-making abilities and poor judgement

The players on this Eagles team no longer have heart

The fans have very little faith in the Eagles now, but still love the team

First of all, I want to dedicate this week’s show to all Veterans… of every service… of every country… of every sex, creed and belief. We honor what you do so we can do things like live freely, raise families in peace and enjoy what we make of our time on this planet. Your sacrifices allowed me to grow and raise a family of my own, and allows them to do the same. Thank you. Come home safely, welcome home to those who have served, and to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, rest in peace.

So here we are again. We discuss yet another head-scratching loss by the Philadelphia Eagles, at home, against a team they should have beaten… by less than a touchdown. The Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football beat the Eagles at The Linc 30-24 as the Eagles display the amazing ability by Head Coach Andy Reid to completely out-coach himself. What works one week cannot possibly work two weeks in a row, so the game plan that worked so effectively against the Dallas Cowboys the week before was drastically changed against the Bears. Our Castillo-led Defense allowed the Bears to score early, and Reid appears to panic as a result, passing and no longer allowing the positive of the week before move the team forward. (By the way, in the show I mentioned that the Bears went up 14-0, but in my head I was thinking “by two scores” and my words came out wrong. Sorry. lol)

What we discussed:

Eagles lose 30-24 after Reid sees his team go down 7-0 in the first quarter, and panic seems to set in.

We believe that there is no hope left in this season, and as a result, Andy Reid is done in Philadelphia

Juan Castillo ran the Defense ineffectively, allowing Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler plenty of time to find his receivers in clutch situations

Arizona Cardinals are coming to Philadelphia this week, and although we expect a win this week, the outlook for the rest of the season still seems dismal

We briefly discuss the situation that broke this week regarding sexual abuse allegations involving the football coaching staff at Penn State

How ’bout them Cowboys?! That was a thought repeated many times the past few days by many Philadelphia Eagles fans. The Dallas Cowboys sauntered into Philly for Sunday Night Football, with Rob Ryan talking his talk, and the Eagles go up by 34 points before the Cowboys scored their first touchdown, in the fourth quarter. The Eagles did everything right in this game, from coaching, to concentration, to discipline, to playmaking. It was one of those games as a football fan that you have to admire. The fact that it happened against the hated Cowboys, in Philly, in front of an international audience, and with fueling the thoughts of a season comeback… well that was just icing on the cake. Make no mistake about it, this was one of the biggest games of the season, and may have many repercussions moving forward. No, this season is not over, not by a long shot.

What we discussed:

Eagles crush Dallas, 34-7 at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday Night Football, and the win was one that felt very good

Eagles dominated on every aspect of the game, from top to bottom

Jason Peters was just amazing again, and Trent Cole returned in great fashion

UK Steve wrote in with questions as to who we would rather have on our team: Vince Young with Shady McCoy OR Michael Vick with Ronnie Brown

Jason Avant angered some fans after the game with remarks about fans jumping back on the bandwagon, and he doesn’t want it

Shady McCoy and Desean Jackson will need to be paid, but which one should the Eagles address first?

The Chicago Bears come to Philadelphia this week for Monday Night Football

The New York Giants lose their star running back Ahmad Bradshaw for the season with a broken foot

We hear from a UK listener who’s site, Brit Coast Offense, picks the Eagles to take the NFC East

EFC FFL update

As an Eagles fan living in the UK, timezones can be a real issue. Primetime games start at 1.20am and keeping in touch with friends in Philadelphia is difficult because when I want to chat during the evening, they’re still at work or spending time with the family. However, there are advantages.

1pm and 4.15pm games start here at 6pm and 9.15pm respectively which is very convenient. I can spend my Sunday doing whatever I like and then settle down for an evening of football. Also, breaking news late in the afternoon is often when I’m free in the evenings and so I can tune in to sports radio and Tweet away.

The news of Nnamdi’s signing broke quite late in the evening for us Brits and it was exciting! Not only had we snatched him from under the cosmetically enhanced nose (allegedly) of Jerry Jones, but it was a serious upgrade of our defense. Twitter almost exploded as Eagles fans all over the world celebrated the news and in Las Vegas, the bookies quickly slashed the price of a Superbowl win for the Birds.

It was late in the evening here though and many of the UK bookies had called it a day. A few were aware enough to cut their odds, but many of them had no idea what had happened so I was able to back the Eagles to win the Superbowl at 16/1. By the next morning, the best price on offer was 10/1 and this went even shorter as the other signings rolled into the City of Brotherly Love.

The start of the season certainly hasn’t lived up to expectations for us Eagles fans. But with the rest of the NFC East also struggling to dominate, the season is far from over. It’s not even that unlikely that an NFC East team could clinch a wildcard spot. The NFC North will probably grab one and that leaves the South and East to fight over the other.

At 3-4 the Eagles must be a pretty big price to win the big one though, right? Wrong! The best price quoted today is just 14/1 for the Vince Lombardi Trophy to finally head to Philly. There are 14 teams in the NFL with a better record than the Eagles but with less of a chance in the post season, according to the bookies. That’s a HUGE vote of confidence in the team and the coaches.

We’re third favourites for the NFC title, almost joint second with New Orleans. Obviously, Green Bay are expected to be crowned champs but we’re hanging in there. The NFC East title looks a cert for Philadelphia too with every bookie I can find making us clear favourites. I wonder how the 5-2 Giants feel about that?!

For me, the next four games will decide our season. If we can win three of them – and the Giants game is a must – then we should be able to win the division.

After that, it’s a case of ‘any given Sunday’…

Cheers from the UK and GO BIRDS!

So we once again come across the Eagles BYE week, unofficially the mid-point of the Eagles season, despite only being six games in so far. This is where, historically, fans and analysts (and hopefully coaches) assess the team, what has gone well, what has gone wrong and where things are going. We are no different, and as has been tradition, we invited our friend Jason Brewer from Bleeding Green Nation to join in on the Eagles conversation. We talk the season so far, the Cowboys game this week, and even dip into the Donovan McNabb pool for a bit.

What we discussed:

Eagles grade at the BYE week has to be an ‘F’

We talk how the Eagles played against the Redskins

The Eagles have three straight Home games coming up against the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals

Sunday Night Football… which Dallas team will show up?

The Eagles need to beat Dallas to instill confidence in us

Out-think, not out-stink! (quote from Todd)

We talk a bit about Terrell Owens and Donovan McNabb

Eric Allen and Jim Johnson will be inducted into the Eagles Honor Roll this coming Sunday in a Halftime ceremony
